Front End Developer/Web Designer

Aotal is a proudly 100% New Zealand owned and operated software & services company, providing Human Resources technology solutions to large employers. We are a NZ success story, having constantly led innovation in our sector, and grown over our 17 year history to count over 50% of New Zealand's largest organisations as our customers. Whilst we have now grown our customer base beyond NZ, we remain uniquely 'Kiwi' and this is reflected in our name. 'Ao' (from Aotearoa), and  'Tal' - (from talent or talent management systems and processes).

We place great importance on the 'human' aspect of our business and pride ourselves on the skills, expertise and insights gained from serving a broad and diverse range of customers over many years.  It's an exciting time of growth for us, and we want to attract people who would like to be part of building something pretty special.

The role

We have a front end developer vacancy in our fun digital team. This role involves working with our large client base to offer innovative digital solutions to support their recruitment efforts, including the design of new careers websites and microsites, implementing third party designs and providing support for existing solutions. As our company evolves there will also be opportunities to get involved with championing new product solutions, and identifying new and innovative digital solutions to compliment what we already provide.

Are you the right person to join our team?

We're ideally looking for a digital all rounder with the below skills and experience:

  • A strong design portfolio
  • 2 years + commercial UI/UX experience
  • Strong Web Development experience, with a high proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • CMS experience is necessary as we have our own tool you will need to master
  • Ability to multi task as you will work on numerous projects simultaneously
  • An interest in future technologies
  • End to end project experience
  • Confidence in meeting with and presenting to customers
  • A general understanding of APIs is advantageous

Your typical day will look something like this:

  • Building SnapHire careers websites for new and existing clients
  • Working with clients to determine their design requirements
  • Making recommendations on best practice
  • Working on new feature development with cross-functional teams
  • Supporting our existing clients with website updates
